Meiya has been a competitive swimmer for 7 years and regularly places in competition for her USA Swimming Club, the Memphis Thunder.

AHS SWIM TEAM
Meiya also swims for her high school team and has placed in the Shelby County Championships in all six events that she competed in, including the 50 backstroke, 100 IM, and 200 IM.
The AHS swim team is a small group of athletes but the girls are able to clinch 3rd Place at the the Shelby County Championships each year!
AHS XC + TRACK & FIELD
Meiya began her running career with the Town of Alinton's track team in the spring of 2023. She broke two county records for the 1,500-meter and 3,000-meter events during her first season! Meiya placed first in the Shelby Country 2023 Grand Championships for the 3,000-meter, 1,500-meter, and 800-meter events. Official records here: Shelby County 2023 Grand Championships.

Cross Country (XC) 2023
Meiya continued her running career with the Arligton High School Cross Country Team in the fall of 2023. Unfortunately, she suffered an injury during the fourth race of the season but still achieved a personal record while enduring a stress fracture in Knoxville, TN (depicted in the adjacent pic). Meiya was unable to walk on her injury after the race, but is now fully recovered and has begun training with Arlington High School for the 2024 Track & Field season.
Shelby County Youth Sports Arlington Track Team
This is Meiya's first experience with Track & Field. She does plan to join the Arlington High School Track Team in 2024. Meiya has been running the 3000m, the 1500m, and the 800m. She has placed 1st in every race this season as of 04-20-2023. On 05/06/2023, Meiya broke the Shelby County record for the 3000 Meter Run! The time to beat is now 12:24:61. Meiya also beat the record for the 1500-meter run and the new time to beat is now 5:44.34.
Meiya placed first in the 2023 Shelby County Grand Championship for the 3000, 1500, and 800-meter runs!
